Define Your Proposition
Make what you offer meaningful to the customers you want to reach
A new collection arrives with products, displays and a story. Your opportunity is to connect that offer with what matters to your customers. Define Your Proposition helps jewellery professionals identify opportunities, understand their market and communicate the value they bring.
This is one of eight courses in the Certified Jewelry Professional programme. It contains six units in the Toolset track.
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify opportunities to create fresh value from existing products and services.
- Define a vision and mission that guide your professional approach.
- Map how you create and deliver value using a Personal Business Brand Canvas.
- Group customers by their potential value, motivations and how you reach them.
- Build a value proposition that connects your offer with customer needs.
- Deliver a concise, credible elevator pitch that opens a conversation.
Who this course is for
Define Your Proposition is for jewellery retail professionals who want to explain more clearly why customers should choose their products, service and expertise. It is useful when introducing a collection, developing customer relationships or refining a personal approach to selling.
Managers and coaches can use the course to help their teams interpret manufacturer materials, recognise market opportunities and develop relevant customer messages.
What the course covers

Look beyond the supplied product information to discover what could make a collection meaningful in your market. Use Blue Ocean Strategy to explore fresh ways to create value through presentation, service and customer experience.

Define the future you want to create through your work and the approach you will take to achieve it. Connect your vision, mission and values to practical choices about how you serve customers.
Business Canvas
Create a Personal Business Brand Canvas that captures who you serve, the problems you help solve and what makes your approach distinctive. Bring your customer relationships, service and professional promise together on one page.
Map the Market
Establish a Value Proposition
Craft an Elevator Pitch
Turn your proposition into a natural introduction that invites further conversation. Use the Golden Circle, the 5Cs of Communication and a short STAR story to express your purpose, explain your offer and demonstrate your value.
How learning works
Each unit combines a short learning video with a quiz and an individual activity.
You will apply the frameworks to jewellery retail situations and your own professional approach, developing a clearer market map, value proposition and elevator pitch.
