Get Started
Welcome to the Certified Jewelry Professional programme.
Whether you are new to the jewellery industry or looking to build on years of experience, you are about to begin a learning journey designed to help you become a more knowledgeable, confident and successful jewellery professional.
CJP is different from many online learning programmes. It is not designed simply to help you remember information. It is designed to help you think differently, communicate more effectively and apply what you learn every day with customers and colleagues.
That means your participation matters. The more you reflect, practise and engage with each activity, the more valuable your learning experience will be.
Before You Begin
You do not need any specialist knowledge to start CJP, but there are a few things that will help you get the very best from the programme.
Bring to the session…
- A notebook or digital journal to capture ideas and reflections.
- An open mind and a willingness to explore new ways of thinking.
- Your own experiences, whether from the jewellery industry or elsewhere.
- Curiosity to ask questions and challenge your own assumptions.
- Time to focus without distractions. Most units take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete, but there is no need to rush.
Remember, this is not a race. The objective is not to finish first. The objective is to become a better jewellery professional.
How Learning Works
Every unit follows a carefully designed learning process. Each part has a different purpose, and each one helps turn knowledge into real world skills.
Every unit begins by introducing the topic and explaining why it matters.
What to do:
Watch the introduction all the way through before moving on. Think about how the topic relates to your own role and experiences.
The lesson introduces the key ideas, techniques and professional knowledge for the topic.
What to do:
Give the lesson your full attention. Pause whenever something reminds you of a customer, a conversation or a situation you have experienced. These connections are where learning becomes meaningful.
Reflection helps transform information into understanding.
There are no right or wrong answers. These exercises are about helping you think more deeply about your own experiences, strengths and opportunities for growth.
What to do:
Take your time. Write down your thoughts honestly. Resist the temptation to skip ahead. The few minutes you spend reflecting will often become the most valuable part of the lesson.
This is where learning becomes action.
Activities allow you to apply new ideas to realistic situations and begin developing new habits.
What to do:
Complete every activity yourself before reviewing any guidance. The value comes from doing the work, not simply reading the answers.
Some programmes include facilitated group discussions and collaborative exercises.
Learning alongside other professionals allows you to see different perspectives, share experiences and discover ideas you may never have considered on your own.
What to do:
Listen carefully to others, contribute thoughtfully and be willing to learn from different viewpoints.
If you are completing CJP as part of an organisation, your facilitator or coach plays an important role in your development.
If you're on your own, seek out an experienced, knowledgable colleague or friend.
Their purpose is not to test you, but to help you explore ideas more deeply and support your progress.
What to do:
Ask questions. Share challenges openly. Be prepared to receive constructive feedback and use it to improve.
Knowledge checks (such as quizzes) help reinforce your understanding of the material.
They are designed to help you identify areas that may need another look before moving on.
What to do:
Do not worry about getting every answer right the first time. If you make a mistake, revisit the lesson and treat it as another opportunity to learn.
Many units include recommended reading and supporting resources for learners who want to explore topics in greater depth.
What to do:
Use these resources whenever you want to expand your understanding or revisit a topic after completing the unit.
Look at some of the everyday challenges or news assessment on the CJP Hub, and use Search Engines or AI to discover more as you progress.
The CJP Learning Cycle
Learning is not a single event. It is a continuous process.
- Learn new ideas.
- Reflect on what they mean.
- Discuss them with others.
- Apply them in your daily work.
- Review the results.
- Repeat the process.
Every time you complete this cycle you build greater confidence, stronger professional judgement and better customer outcomes.
Apply Every Lesson
Throughout the programme, keep asking yourself four simple questions.
- How does this apply to my customers?
- Where have I experienced something similar?
- What could I do differently next time?
- What is one action I will take before my next lesson?
- The more often you make these connections, the faster your confidence and capability will grow.
Create Your Personal Learning Journal
Throughout the programme, record your thoughts, observations and experiences.
You might capture:
- New ideas that surprised you.
- Questions you want to explore further.
- Customer conversations that went particularly well.
- Situations you would handle differently next time.
- Personal goals for the weeks ahead.
By the end of the programme, you will have created your own personalised professional reference that reflects your experience and development.
Progress Matters More Than Perfection
Every successful jewellery professional was once a beginner.
Some concepts will feel immediately familiar. Others may challenge the way you currently think or work.
That is exactly how meaningful learning happens.
Do not worry about being perfect. Focus on making small improvements every day. Those improvements build confidence, strengthen professional judgement and create lasting success over time.
You're Ready to Begin
Congratulations on taking the first step towards becoming a more knowledgeable, confident and successful jewellery professional.
- Be curious.
- Take your time.
- Participate fully.
- Reflect honestly.
- Apply what you learn.
Most importantly, enjoy the journey.
