Acquire Customers

Create opportunities through purposeful connections and thoughtful engagement

Jewellery professional meeting prospective customers at an art gallery reception

Your next customer relationship can begin in the boutique, through an introduction or at an event. Acquire Customers helps jewellery professionals take the initiative, develop relevant networks and recognise how to support prospective customers as they move towards a decision.

This is one of eight courses in the Certified Jewelry Professional programme. It contains six units in the Skillset track.

What you will learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognise when you have enough insight to begin a relevant conversation.
  • Build a networking approach around meaningful connections and appropriate follow up.
  • Assess a prospective customer’s needs, timing and decision process.
  • Adapt your approach to the customer’s stage in their buying journey.
  • Engage the different people involved in a purchase decision.
  • Use authentic recommendations, testimonials and evidence to build confidence.

Who this course is for

Acquire Customers is for jewellery retail professionals who want to develop opportunities beyond waiting for customers to enter the store. It is useful for associates building their networks, following up introductions or supporting prospective customers who are still exploring their options.

Managers and coaches can use the course to help their teams practise proactive engagement, prioritise opportunities and approach customer acquisition with greater consistency.

What the course covers

Minimum Viable Insight

Recognise when further preparation is less useful than starting a conversation. Use the Read, Reach, Refine cycle to gather a relevant insight, make an appropriate approach and learn from the response.

Explore Networking

Identify communities and events where you can build relevant professional relationships. Use the JEWEL framework to join in, engage authentically, recognise opportunities and follow up thoughtfully.

Qualify Leads

Explore a prospective customer’s needs, timing, investment comfort and decision process. Apply the BANT framework alongside a view of the relationship’s longer term potential to decide what attention and support are appropriate.

Support the Journey

Recognise the stages from initial awareness through consideration, evaluation, decision and after purchase. Use Ask, Align, Advance to match your approach to the customer’s readiness and agree a useful next step.

Sell to Committees

Understand how couples, families and other advisers influence a jewellery purchase. Use the FRAME model to identify those involved, explore their priorities and help them reach a shared decision.

Social Proof

Explore how customer stories, recommendations and expert recognition can provide reassurance. Use the Three E and TRUST frameworks to gather and share relevant evidence authentically, with permission where required.

How learning works

Each unit combines a short learning video with a quiz and an individual activity.

The activities ask you to apply the ideas to your own experience, so you finish with more than a set of concepts: you have a clearer view of your direction and practical actions to take at work.

The Coach format adds resources for guided discussion and team development.
